Let's get one thing out of the way - auditions can be scary! Let's face it: someone is judging our performance abilities. But MCCA auditions are an important part of the learning process. In your audition, we can properly assess your experience level, what your strengths are, and determine the type of role for which you are best suited. As you gain experience over time, you'll learn more about how to prepare for an audition, including how to best present yourself and showcase your abilities. We want you to be successful, and we're here to help make it happen!
(Participants in Little Starz are not required to audition. Parents interested in having their child participate in Little Starz should watch this site for information about sign up and first rehearsal dates.)
Auditions for CenterStage, UpStage and MainStage will consist of an audition that will last 5 to 7 minutes. You will be expected to have prepared 16 bars (measures) of a song to sing. You will be asked to do a cold read from a script, which is usually a short scene read opposite from a member of the MCCA staff. You may be asked to do some simple dance steps that will be shown to you by MCCA staff.
